About Our Body & Hand Liquid Soaps

For those of you who prefer, we offer liquid soaps.  These soaps are truely pure products, and made the old fashion way.  And because they are liquid, you can dispense them onto your favorite scrubby and let the lather take over.  Our formula is concentrated, so you will not have to use as much as you would of a commercial soap or body wash.

Pure liquid soap is as thin as water.   Most commercial brands of liquid soap are thickened with an additive.  We choose to leave it out as we feel it is an unnecessary addition that only affects the appearance.  Our liquid soaps contain a blend of plant oils, water, potassium hydroxide and either essential oils or natural aroma compounds for fragrance.  There are no additives or fillers in this soap!

What you will not find in our liquid soaps…

Parabens are a group of chemicals used as preservatives in many skin care products. Paraben exposure is linked to rapid cancer cell growth (particularly breast cancer) and research suggests interruptions in the body’s hormone system for both men and women; with the potential to lead to interruptions in reproductive development, fertility, birth outcomes, and the production of hormones.

Triclosan an antibacterial and antifungal agent present in many consumer products.  It has been linked to  adverse health and environmental effects.  It is also used as a pesticide.  In December of 2018, the FDA banned it from nonprescription, antiseptic produces intended for use by health care professionals.  Despite this “rule” tricolsan is still found in many personal care products.

Sodium laureth sulfate is an ananionic detergent and surfactant that is fequently used as an emulsifying agent.  It is also said to help produce foaming action.  Oddly enough, it is completely unnecessary when making a pure liquid soap and has been know to cause skin irritation.

Ammonium lauryl sulfate is another surfactant and foaming agent and is also know to cause irritation to people with sensitive skin.

Synthetic colors and fragrances are often used in many liquid soaps where as natural liquid soaps get fragrance and color from the natural ingredients used in formulation.  The three most widely used dyes are red 40, yellow 5 and yellow 6.  These dyes are used to catch the consumer’s eye, look more appealing and match the perception of the  soap’s scent.  Although the evidence is still somewhat conflicting about the connection between artificial colors and our children’s health, it seems it is a risk I’d rather not take.
